 Mat Johns is an award-winning filmmaker based in Manchester, UK. His Writer/Director credits in short film include RUN, KISS, A FATHER'S DAY and INERTIA, all of which have been selected for BAFTA or OSCAR qualifying film festivals.

 

A FATHER'S DAY, a horror film funded by Creative England and BFI Network, screened at over 160 film festivals and has received over 3.6 million views on YouTube. INERTIA, his latest drama project funded by BFI Network, is currently on the festival circuit and has recently been selected by 8 OSCAR or BAFTA qualifying film festivals. Having won Best Drama at Out On Film in Atlanta, Inertia was submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Best Live Action Short Film nomination for the 2022 Academy Awards. INERTIA has been selected by over 50 film festivals so far. Mat is currently developing a slate of feature films.

In a freelance capacity, Mat has worked with clients including the BBC, Art's Council England, Creative England and The Warehouse Project. Mat develops & delivers a wide range of content, and whether it's a work of fiction, documentary, promotional / corporate, music video or a showreel, he aims to produce film projects that are cinematic and story-focused. With the equipment to shoot projects in HD to 4K resolution, Mat creates client-specific content at competitive rates.
